I'm getting tired of lasts (hence the title), and tonight is a HUGE one. It's my last night on Rishiri Island.
I can't even count the number of nights I've spent in hotels and ryokans on this island. Suffice to say, it has been a lot!
Rishiri has been a wonderful place for wandering, dreaming, running, biking, lying on beds on lazy afternoons, and most of all, teaching.
Tonight was a good last evening. After school, I went to Cafe Vega, one of my favorite places here.
The owners have always been kind to me (and my brother). They often give me food. Today was no exception. I ordered Vienna coffee and got this giant delicious bread a little while later.
After I said my goodbyes and left, I met up with someone from school, and we went out to dinner at a restaurant called Tsuki. On the way, we saw the beautiful view of the mountain above. We also saw lovely views of Rebun across the sea.
I'm going to miss coming here, but I must say that I've had a completely wonderful and satisfying time! So thankful for the chance to teach on this island and spend so much time here.
Things to come: my final goodbyes to Rishiri, Rebun, and my biggest high school. Also, some farewell parties are on the horizon. And goodbyes to the city and all my favorite places! Prepare the tissues!
