Hezekiah

Last night at church, we all read 2 Chronicles 33.

"Thus saith Sennacherib King of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege of Jerusalem? Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying The Lord our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?" He continues on this long rant against God, how he has defeated all these other nations and their gods. This king even wrote letters railing against God. His men tried to scare the people on the wall with noise.

This year, I've been feeling in Israel's place a bit. I've heard a lot of railing voices inside. "Sure, you've had your fun. Well, that's over now! Who do you think you are, anyway?"

"And for this cause, Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the son of Amoz prayed an cried to heaven. And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria...Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side."

God didn't mess around!

And if He could take out an army, I think He can handle my future - both the near future and the far future.

It was a really nice reminder at a time when I needed it! Maybe you need it, too! I don't know. :-)

I read chapter 33 today. What was amazing to me is that the Lord sent 1 -one -1 angel to take care of business. I angel routed every one of them! We have those angels around us at all times performimg the word of the Lord in our lives What extravagant unseen power is right next to us wanting so much to help us,
