Yesterday and a little bit today, Wakkanai had a festival to celebrate the ties between Wakkanai and the South Pole. (^o^)
Yesterday, lots of businesses and groups danced around the center of the city. They wore all kinds of interesting costumes. Some groups were quite good, and a few looked like they were a bit forced to be there.
A few of us Westerners dressed up in yukata (like kimono, but for summer) for the festival. I thought it was going to be really embarrassing, but it wasn't bad. It was kind of fun!
We also had fun taking cute purikura pictures and playing a taiko drum game.
