Isn't this dreadful? This is the backyard of my apartment building. For the past three summers, it has been full of tall weeds in the summer and snowdrifts in the winter. Right now, the weeds are flat from the snow sitting on them all winter. Of course, I can't do anything about the snow (and I like it, so I wouldn't do anything if I could). And I'm not sure if I can do anything about the weeds. They are powerful, deep, and widespread.
But I'm going to try! The garden is actually in progress now, and I will update you with more pictures as we go along.
Let me tell you what, plowing the back 40 is hard work! I'm glad I don't have to completely rely on it for food. My muscles are so sore today from hacking away at the ground.
And dirt is everywhere! I learned that of you hoe and swing the hoe over your head, you just might end up with a head an shirt full of dirt. Ugh.
