The best parts of my trip so far have involved spending quality time with my family and friends.
Visiting the dentist did not rank very high. No offense to the many wonderful dentists out there, but perhaps merely threatening suspects with dental visits would be an effective form of interrogation. I’m just sayin’. Although someone would need to see if that would violate the Geneva Conventions.
Anyway, off that rabbit trail now. Hey, speaking of nothing, did you know that gater is a real word and pute is not? Playing Boggle with my family has been not only fun, but educational as well!
So, what I was originally going to say is that I posted this picture, because it brought together two elements of this vacation: sunshine and shopping. The weather has, for the most part, been utterly beautiful. We’ve had lots of sunshine and decently warm days. I’ve really been enjoying soaking in the sunshine while I can. I love the snow in Wakkanai, but I do miss the sun when it disappears for a long time. I’ve also been doing a lot of shopping in this second half of the vacation. Things like pants are difficult to find in Japan, due to my height. Also, I can neither confirm nor deny the addition of mint chocolate to my suitcase. But it has been nice to be able to find the things I need at reasonable prices. Yay.
But I’m not sure that I’m ready to head off, even with all my loot. Goodbyes are a whole lotta no fun.

Saying goodbye was really difficult as were the few days before of anticipating the goodbye moment. But being with you was worth the pain.
