Happy Not Golden Week

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!

This week turned out to be a long and wonderful week! When I last wrote, I was...wait, I have to go look...

OK, so when we last talked, I was bemoaning the wind! Perhaps the photographic example will help explain my position. That thing blowing away is a fairly heavy sketchbook. That's all I'm sayin'...

So anyway, on Sunday afternoon, I met up with the ALT across town and the ALT who lives out on one of the islands. He was on his way somewhere else, so we all hung out for a while. We wound up eating dinner at the Russian restaurant, which was yummy.

The next day, Monday, three more ALTs arrived from further south in Hokkaido. They stayed at my apartment Monday and Tuesday nights, so I tagged around with them and pretended to be a tour guide.

Their first afternoon, we just hung around Wakkanai and did a few things in town. On Tuesday, we went to Rebun Island. It was a perfect day, and we had a lovely long rambling hike.

The weather was just gorgeous for hiking! The wind was a bit intense, but I suppose that's not too unusual!

Wednesday, we went to Cape Soya! It was my first time to actually stop there instead of whooshing past in a car!

It was insanely cold! And yet, we ate ice cream, anyway! Japan's northernmost ice cream!

Overall, it was a really nice Golden Week! Staying home actually turned out to be really fun!

Anyway, enjoy the mixed up pictures! It will be a game - can you match the picture with the place?

Liz, you sound like you are really taking advantage of your life in this wonderful place . . and what was it like to be the "old" ALT welcoming the newbies?????

OH .. I just re-read your post . . maybe they weren't "new"--just from another town . oh well . . you were still hostess, instead of being the one being shown around .. what a change from when you first arrived . .

Such fantastic pictures! I am drooling--especially over the fence picture. I believe you could sell many of your photos, Liz.

So proud of you for opening your home to strangers. It gives you a good feeling to have the cleaning done and then enjoy hostessing.

In about a week, you will have Mr. Fix Everything visiting. Hope you have a long list! lol
